15 Summer Outfit Ideas For Men

by Roger Saenz UPDATED:

Before you start going through the outfits I suggest you get your thumb ready to save a bunch of these summer outfits to your boards.

For context, it has been hovering around 110 degrees where I live, so when it comes to extreme summer heat I’ve had to learn over the years how to stay stylish while surviving extreme temperatures.

Summer Outfits For Men

Outfit 1: Black and White Outfit

This outfit represents a timeless combination with items that can keep you comfortable and stylish all day. Get a good pair of sunglasses that compliment your face to finish the outfit.

Outfit 2: Red Polo Shirt and Jeans

Loafers and jeans were a big trend in 2024, and hopefully, that continues into 2025. But even if it doesn’t, I think it’s a timeless combo—some years it just happens to be more popular than others.

The red Nautica (literally the name of the color) polo shirt is what makes this outfit stand out. It’s made of 100% cotton and costs just $20. Personally, if we were talking about a white, black, or navy polo, I’d be more concerned about the type of cotton they use. But with a bold color like red, I’m not that picky.

Outfit 3: Military Style

Olive green is a neutral color, and in menswear, we usually see it in overshirts or pants. Style it with jeans and white sneakers for a look that’s clean and put-together—just without grabbing as much attention as the red one.

Just like the red polo, this olive green one from Nautica is also 100% cotton. You can see that both polos have an amazing off-the-rack fit.

Outfit 4: Weekend Getaway

Navy isn’t a color I’d normally wear if it’s extremely sunny and 110 degrees outside, but this was a family trip during Holy Week. The navy polo, however, is a classic menswear staple.

Outfit 5: Beige Polo and White Sneakers

This is another combination I wore on my weekend trip. Because of my high contrast, I have to make sure to style the beige polo with something like blue jeans. So keep that in mind if you’re a high-contrast guy like me. The white sneakers add the final touch of comfort and style to the outfit.

Outfit 6: The Magno Scavo Look

A young man wearing an outfit with a cap, white polo shirt, navy pants, black belt, and black loafers.

My inspiration for this outfit was one of my favorite men’s fashion influencers Magno Scavo, he built a similar outfit years ago and look 10 times better than me in it.

Outfit 7: Olive Green Polo and Loafers

Fun fact: This was one of the first times I started experimenting with different pieces. A cap with jeans and loafers is not something the old me would’ve worn in a million years.

Outfit 8: Navy polo and Loafers

A person stands confidently on the sidewalk, arms crossed, wearing a navy polo, jeans, and loafers. The sky is clear, with leafy trees framing the scene.

Let me tell you why this is a risky combination for me. I’m a high-contrast guy and I’m 5’9″—that creates two problems with an outfit like this. First, a low-contrast look can make me look washed out. Second, having the bottom half of the outfit lighter than the top can make me look shorter. That’s why I’m extra careful with navy polos and usually avoid black tops.

Outfit 9: Business Casual Summer Alternative

A person in sunglasses stands confidently with arms crossed, wearing a light blue polo and navy pants. Palm trees and a sunny sky create a relaxed vibe.

One of the classic business casual looks is a light blue oxford shirt paired with navy pants and loafers. I made it more summer-friendly by ditching the long sleeves and swapping the dress shirt for a polo.

Outfit 10: Summer Smart Casual

An extremely sunny day needs an outfit that reflects sunlight and keeps you as cool as a cucumber.

Outfit 11: Light Blue Smart Casual

A man in sunglasses walks confidently on a sunny street, wearing a light blue polo, navy pants, and white sneakers. A tropical tree and house are in the background.

The white polo and beige pants outfit seems comfortable, but this one is one a whole other level, the combination of a 100% pima cotton polo shirt in a light color, with high-quality cotton breathable navy pants and white sneakers from Cole Haan makes this a chef kiss summer outfit.

We are now mixing the white polo shirt with beige pants and tan loafers for a summer business casual look that’s clean and perfect for the sunniest of days.

Outfit 13: White Tommy Hilfiger Polo and Jeans

I promise this is the last time you’ll see the white polo. Now for a casual look I decided to style it with jeans and white sneakers. An easy outfit that looks cleans and you can add almost any accessory or jacket to it. It’s a truly great base.

Outfit 14: Navy Polo and Black Trousers

In Outfit 8 (which feels like a long time ago)—the navy polo with jeans—I mentioned that if you’re a shorter guy with high contrast between your skin and hair color, like me, you have to be careful. A lighter bottom half can make you look shorter, and monochromatic looks can wash out your skin. That’s why a navy polo can be tricky to style—unless you pair it with a darker bottom. Black is a great option for that. If you compare this look to Outfit 8, the photo angles are similar, but my skin looks better with black pants, and I also appear taller.

Outfit 15: Light Blue Polo and Loafers

Simply another outfit that’s difficult to pull off for a guy like me. I’ll leave it here so you can see the difference between this one with a slightly monochromatic feel and another one like outfit 2 with a red polo and a high contrast. I’m wearing the exact same pair of jeans and loafers, with a similar pose, but there’s a big difference that goes to show the importance of styling the right pieces for you.

How to stay fresh and stylish during the summer?

For me, it comes down to three things: fit, fabric, and the overall style of the clothing.

Since you’ll probably be wearing just one layer in the summer, the fit becomes even more important. I aim for a fit that hugs the body without feeling too tight—usually slim-fit shirts and dress pants. My jeans are actually athletic fit because slim fits are just too tight around my hamstrings.

As for fabric, I can sum it up in one word: cotton. I haven’t tried linen yet—I’m sure it’s great for summer—but to me, cotton is still king. It’s easy to find, holds its shape well, and can be styled in lots of different ways. I try to stick to clothes made from 100% cotton whenever I can.

Finally, let’s talk about overall style. Personally, polo shirts are my go-to in the summer—I’m obsessed with them. For pants, I also recommend sticking with cotton.
