Business Casual Capsule Wardrobe
In a nutshell, a capsule wardrobe is simply a collection of pieces that can be paired together to create multiple outfits. For us men that usually means classic pieces in neutral colors like white, black, beige, olive green, and different shades of blue.
Classic pieces in menswear depend on the style we are talking about when it comes to business casual that’s usually oxford shirts, blazers, trousers, chinos, dress shoes and sometimes white sneakers.
Now, when it comes to the “business casual style” that’s sort of a catch-all term. It can range from a J.P. Morgan office on a Friday to a Google office on Monday. It’s a style that’s so broad that to put it simply the best way to make sure you fit in is looking at what your colleagues are wearing.
Now let’s start with each item on my summer 2025 Capsule Wardrobe.
Capsule Wardrobe
White Oxford Shirt
A white oxford shirt is one of the most well known essential items in menswear and it has been around for decades now. If you are on the hunt for “business casual capsule wardrobes” be ready to see it on every single one of them.
You can get great ones for less than $40 at Quince and they are made of 100% organic cotton. Since they are pretty common, that makes them a relatively cheap and easy to find item.
Blue Oxford Shirt
Uniqlo | Banana Republic | Ralph Lauren
After the white oxford shirt, the blue one is the second most essential shirt in business casual menswear. I see this one more frequently on business outfits than the white oxford. Overall it’s a great option that you can mix and match with almost anything in your wardrobe.
Olive Green(2025 trend)

I know a capsule wardrobe is all about timeless pieces of clothing that you can wear years after you buy them. Trends come and go, but if you could take advantage of trends while keeping your style inside the classic menswear bubble, that’s getting the best of both worlds and exactly what olive green provides.
Olive green is a color that’s trending so much this season that it’s almost impossible to find a green dress shirt in that color right now.
White Polo Shirt
An item made mainstream by Rene Lacoste, the white polo shirt can help you look clean and elevated while keeping everything simple. I love white polo shirts, but my best piece of advice is to make sure you don’t splurge in one because they will get wrecked with food or drink and you really don’t want to have stains on a $300 shirt.
Navy Polo Shirt
When I discovered that Sunspel is the brand that made the famous navy polo shirt from Spectre my respect for them instantly went up. A navy polo shirt is also a great alternative if you are not the fittest guy and need to keep things relatively muted or quite when it comes to tops.
Navy Jacket
Blazer(Suit Supply) | Half Zip Sweater(J. Crew)
Navy Trousers
Ralph Lauren | Suit Supply | Banana Republic
Navy cotton trousers can easily become the most comfortable piece of clothing in your closet and one that you’ll want to wear again and again as it’s easy to match with other tops and it fits almost any occasion. The fabric and color combination is one I couldn’t recommend enough.
I like the ones with side adjusters, they can help you style an outfit with white sneakers without a belt. However, it has been challenging to find a pair of navy trousers made out of cotton with side adjusters, so far the only brand I’ve found that sells navy cotton pants with side adjusters is Todd Snyder. I don’t have an affiliate link or anything for Todd Snyder, but I’ve heard great things about them.
Black Trousers

Black Pants(Suit Supply)
Sometimes you have a shirt that requires keeping the rest of the outfit quite and that was a good pair of black pants can do for you. They can easily match many of the items you already have in your wardrobe.
Blue Jeans
Old Navy | Levi’s 514
A dark wash pair of jeans are an essential on every men’s wardrobe. They provide versatility and can be easily styled on not so sunny or hot days. You can also wear them with a wide range of styles and they are a great item for your more casual days.
I get mine from Old Navy, but there are many brands that sell great jeans like J. Crew, Gap, Abercrombie, and especially Levi’s.
Khaki Pants
For the fall/winter edition I’ll probably be changing this pair for gray, but for now is khaki. Even though it’s a popular color, I’ll even say it’s the second or most popular pant in menswear. Sometimes it’s difficult to find a good pair of khaki pants and that’s why I recommend that you stick with a brand you already know and like.
White Sneakers
Not every stylist has the courage of including them in their business casual capsule wardrobe. This pair can be matched with almost anything in your closet. They are also a great fit for smart casual outfits and I personally love that versatility.
Loafers
Loafers are in my opinion the most versatile dress shoe in menswear. With most outfits nowadays being a mix of casual, smart and business casual, you need clothing that can adapt to your needs and loafers are a great option. You’ll see me style them with both jeans and trousers in a combination of smart casual and business casual outfits.
I bought the black ones from Cole Haan, I personally really like the brand, but there are other great options around like Wolf and Shepherd and on the upper end you can find like Beckett Simonon.
