Two flat-lay winter office outfits for men.
by Roger Saenz PUBLISHED:

We’re quickly getting colder and colder temperatures, which means it’s that time of year when you need to grab your overcoat and think about how you’ll wear it with the rest of your outfit. For some inspo, here are 10 winter office outfits that will keep you warm and stylish, even on the coldest days.

Some are for extremely cold weather and are basically two outfits in one—one for outside and one for inside.

The Downtown Puffer-Vest Prep

Men's layered winter office outfit featuring a black puffer jacket and a dark green sweater vest. Ideal business casual for extreme cold weather.

Let’s start strong with one of my favorite outfits.

For those days when it’s too cold for an overcoat and you need to pull out a puffer or parka, you can create two completely different outfits—one to survive the cold outside and one to thrive inside the office.

I saw this outfit online and wondered how I could turn it into a winter office look without changing it too much. Well, just add boots and a puffer jacket when you’re outside.

The Architect’s Office Outfit

Men's navy overcoat and grey sweater winter office outfit. Essential business casual attire for cold weather work.

If it’s not freezing outside, then this look might be enough.

A gray V-neck sweater is a classic business casual staple, especially when you pair it with a navy overcoat and navy trousers.

The neutral colors in this outfit make almost any guy look good.

The Tech-Bro Thermal

Men's black puffer jacket and navy V-neck sweater winter office outfit. A smart business casual choice for cold weather work.

We’re taking the same business casual style from the last outfit, but dropping a few degrees and adding some snow to the mix.

The idea is to stay warm outside, survive your commute, and start closing deals as soon as you take off the puffer jacket.

The Executive Beige

Men's camel overcoat and beige sweater winter office outfit. An elegant business casual look for cold weather work.

We’re getting back to those transitional days between fall and winter when you can still wear an overcoat.

The idea is to build a tonal look that’s comfortable and still works for the office by mixing three “business” pieces with a cashmere crewneck sweater.

The Nordic Half-Zip

Men's charcoal puffer jacket and camel half-zip sweater. A cozy business casual winter office outfit for cold weather work.

If you still want to wear brown but it’s simply too cold, then this look is the answer.

Anything too colorful under a parka can make anyone look bulky, but hopefully you’ll take the parka off as soon as you get inside.

The Banker’s Cable Knit

Men's navy overcoat and beige cable-knit sweater winter office outfit. A polished business casual style for cold weather work.

If you want to look preppy this winter, then a cable-knit is always a great option.

Pair it with wool trousers and a wool overcoat to stay warm and business casual. You can swap the loafers for boots if you need to.

The Layered Analyst

Men's hooded puffer jacket and dark green sweater vest winter office outfit. Excellent layered look for cold weather business casual.

It may be difficult to look preppy during the harshest winter days, but there’s a solution.

Just create two different outfits. The first is what you wear for 20 minutes while you’re outside, and the second is what you wear for eight to twelve hours.

I found the green V-neck sweater at COS and it adds a preppy, yet “business” feel to any outfit.

The Boardroom Camel

This is an outfit that speaks more when you’re outside. The whole idea is to let the overcoat stand out.

If you want an almost monochromatic look, swap the camel overcoat for a navy one and you’re all set.

The Scandinavian Commuter

Men's cold weather work look with a black puffer jacket and a beige sweater for a business casual winter office outfit.

Wearing lighter colors in winter is something most guys avoid because it’s so easy to get dirty—unless you layer those lighter pieces under a warm, almost indestructible puffer jacket.

The outfit will still keep you warm when you take off the puffer, thanks to the Quince cashmere sweater.

James Bond Winter Office Outfit

Men's black peacoat and navy sweater winter office outfit. A classic, sharp business casual look for the cold weather.

Let’s finish these 10 outfits with James Bond’s favorite piece of outerwear: the peacoat.

It’s perfect for shorter guys (I’m 5’9), and it helps keep your proportions sharp. Pair it with classic business casual colors for an outfit that keeps you stylish and ready for the day.

How To Stay Warm and Business casual during winter

Initially, I thought a wool overcoat might be enough, but I quickly realized that sometimes function has to come before style. I live in San Pedro Sula (Honduras), and it’s 84 degrees in the middle of November. There’s no way I’d survive 30-degree weather in New York or Chicago with just one of my wool overcoats.

After a lot of research—and against what many fashion gurus preach—I started looking into puffer jackets and parkas. That’s when I got the idea to create two different outfits: one to survive outside and one to thrive inside. All you need to do is take off the puffer or parka and you’re ready.
